"Plein-Air" Original Watercolor Paintings Working primarily as a "plein-air" (french term for "on location") Watercolor Artist, my inspiration comes from the wide open spaces before me. Concentrating mainly on the Colorado Rocky Mountains to the High Desert Vistas of New Mexico, it sometimes takes hours to find just the right spot to set up the easel, but that's part of the fun! Other painting adventures include The Napa Valley, Pacific Coast of California, Canyon Lands of Utah, Sedona, Arizona to the far reaches of Italy. Plein-air painting has no boundaries! Painting "en plein-air" is always a challenge, never-ever routine! That's what makes it so exciting. The changing light and weather conditions create a sense of urgency that translates to a spontaneous and loose "impressionistic" style which is very difficult to achieve in the studio. The medium of Watercolor seems to be a natural with plein-air painting because the paint moves so freely, which is so important when working fast. It is hoped that the excitement of the moment the first brush stroke hits the paper can be felt in each and every painting! Commissioned Paintings are also welcomed. I have a special interest in architechture, (houses in particular) which I do frequently for clients whether it be a Christmas, birthday, or anniversary gift, they're always very special to the recipient. Just about any scene you can imagine or have photo reference of, I can paint in any size desired. From mountain scenes to house portraits, in any size desired. Email or call me for a quote.
